In June, we held two seminars where we elaborated on resource capacity planning in QC laboratories. In this edition we discuss how we move seamlessly from a capacity plan to a detailed optimized analyst schedule.
A capacity plan allows lab managers to anticipate and level workload while delivering test results timely. It also addresses the interplay between the real test work, which is the core business, and the supporting tasks and projects.
While a capacity plan looks at a horizon of multiple months, lab scheduling runs on a short term which is a couple of weeks. A lab schedule is directly executable and takes into account a multitude of constraints such as qualifications, equipment and analyst availability, work sequencing and priorities.
Here’s what we’ll discuss during this one hour webinar.
