Binocs is mentioned as an innovative approach to study planning & management in the latest Gartner report – which discusses the use of innovative tools to optimize the time and effort spent on clinical trials.

The key challenge?

The key challenge? We, at Binocs, often call it ‘the disintegrating world of resource planning’. By that, we mean: different types of projects and work that all require resources and expertise from different teams. How to manage that effectively? PPM systems (possibly in combination with excel sheets) can help to maintain visibility for larger projects but become less convenient or even impossible to maintain for smaller projects and routine work. This disintegrated approach creates resource visibility gaps. There is a clear need to integrate and optimize end-to-end trial processes. Read here another interesting article about PPM.

Binocs mentioned in Gartner report

The Gartner report agrees with that overall assessment, saying that “optimization must be a continuous, ongoing endeavor with clinical development”. It continues to say that “clinical operations teams can optimize their end-to-end trail processes using lean approaches, eliminating wasteful or unnecessary steps, better allocating resources and prioritizing critical path activities across departments.”

How Gartner positions Binocs?

The report inevitably zooms in on innovative digital solutions as “these create new, often disruptive, optimization opportunities because these tools connect departments and projects that were previously isolated, help integrate siloed systems and make information more visible across the organization.” We couldn’t agree more! It’s perfectly in line with our overall vision for Binocs:

  • Creating end-to-end visibility in terms of scheduling & capacity management on a team, department, site and organizational level. In Binocs language: it enables collaborative planning by centralizing all demand in 1 system. In Gartner language: “its impact spans across departments and integrates siloed systems”.
  • Managing workload in functional teams by helping organizations to allocate resources more efficiently in complex environments: different types of projects/work requiring expertise & resources from different teams. (all types of projects, work and teams managed in one system.
  • Standardized KPI reporting, supporting effective performance management to optimize planning adherence, throughput, FTE efficiency, capacity forecasting, …

How Gartner describes the value of Binocs?

It almost sounds poetic, this is how Gartner summarizes Binocs’ value: “better understanding the study’s critical path allows resources to be better allocated. The ability to project manage studies at a more granular level helps to ensure project timelines are met and risk & issues are escalated appropriately.
